She has an extensive and diverse clinical background working with adolescents through adults in various clinical settings including schools, college counseling, community mental health, hospital, and private counseling centers. Dr. Nkongho’s work is informed by years of formal clinical training in the United States and Asia (Hong Kong) where she provided therapy to individuals from many different cultural backgrounds. She is very sensitive to individual differences as well as points of intersection, and strives to create a safe, non-judgmental space where individuals can feel supported and cared for as they explore, examine and challenge themselves to experiment with new ways of thinking about and engaging in their lives.
Dr. Nkongho especially enjoys working with individuals who may be going through life transitions, have relationship challenges, and who desire to make changes in their lives but have struggled with doing so. Her approach to therapy is integrative. She has experience using a variety of therapeutic modalities that can be utilized to help provide relief from troubling symptoms, yet remains theoretically grounded in a relational psychodynamic understanding of problems which guides much of her work.
